Rules for 10-11-12 year olds
1.   Score cards must be signed by all players.
2.   Golfers are responsible for their scorecards.
3.   Maximun score on any hole is 12.
4.   After 12 strokes are played the golfer should pick up ball and record a 12* on the score card.
5.   If there is a tie the player with the fewest number of  12*s  wins.
6.   If ball goes into woods and can't be found, drop a ball at nearest point of entry within two club lengths and play on
     adding one additional stroke to the score for the hole.
7.   Once all golfers are on the putting green, the player farthest away from the hole starts, after putting that player must
      finish putting into the hole.
8.   The golfers shall play the red tee markers on all holes except hole # 3 (which will be played from the drop area at the
     150 yard marker)
9.   In the fairway and any closely mowed area the players may move ball up one club length to improve lie.  In the tree
      line, play the ball as it lies.
10. Golfers must walk. Markers and parents may ride carts but not junior golfers.
11. Caddies are not permitted.  Parents that are with golfers can not give advice to the Players, penalty of 2 strokes for each
      breach of rule.
12.  It is important for players to move at a brisk pace not to delay playing partners or groups behind.  Play ready golf.

Rules for 14 year olds and younger
1.   Score cards must be signed by all players.
2.   Golfers are responsible for their own scorecards.
3.   Maximum score on any hole is 12.
4.   After 12 strokes are played the golfer should pick ball up and record 12* on score card.
5.   If there is a tie the player with the fewest number of 12* wins.
6.   The golfers shall play the gold tee markers on all holes.
7.   In the fairway and any closely mowed area the players may move ball up to one club length to improve lie.  In the
      tree line, play the ball as it lies.  In the rough the ball can be moved only 12 inches.  
8.   Golfers must walk.
9.   Caddies are not permittted.  Parents may walk along but no advice can be given to players, penalty of 2 strokes for
      each breach of rule.
10. Players need to keep a brisk pace by being ready to play when it is their turn, slow play is not allowed and may
      incur penalties.
Rules for 17 year olds and younger
1.  Score cards must be signed by all players.
2.  Golfers are responsible for their own score cards.
3.  USGA rules apply except where noted.
4.  In the fairway and any closely mowed area the players may move ball up to one club length to improve lie.  In the
     rough the ball can be moved only 12 inches.  In the tree line, play ball as it lies.
5.  The golfers shall play the white tee markers on all holes.
6.  Drop areas are in effect on holes #3,  #14, #16, but not on #10 and #18.
7.  Golfers must walk.
8.  Caddies are not permitted.
9.  Ready golf applies, golfers who ar slow may incur penalties.  Be ready when it is your turn and move quickly between
    shots.

Kenai Junior Tournament Rules
Rules for 8-9 year olds
1.  Tee shots are taken from designated areas.
2.  All putts must be holed out.
3.  Maximun score for any hole is 10.
4.  If golfer has not holed out on the 10th shot, the golfer then picks up the ball for this hole and marks a 10* on the score
    card.
5.  In case of ties the player with least amount of  *s wins.
6.  In the case of shots going in the woods and not being found or not being able to play the ball, the golfer should drop a
    ball as close to the point of entry to the woods and play on while adding one additional stroke to his or her score for
    the hole.
7.  When all players are on the green, the farthest from the hole goes first and continues to putt until the ball is holed or
    the player reaches 10 strokes for the hole.
8.  Players may tee the ball up on any shot over fifty yards from the hole.
9.  Once inside the fifty yards the golfer may bump the ball one club length to get a better lie prior to the shot.
10. Golfers must walk.
11. Caddies are not permitted.
         8-9 year old modified tees:  #1--150 yards #2--200 yards #3--125 yards #4--175 yards--#5 gold tees

Kenai Golf Course Junior Golf
Junior Cup Try-Outs Practice First Part of June -7am to 8am and noon to 1 pm.  Juniors may try out on any or all of the try-out days.   All experienced juniors welcome.  There will be 8 golfers selected, two will be alternates in case they are needed during the season.  The teams will play a match in Soldotna and a match in Kenai each week on Thursday and Friday.
Junior Golf Sessions
Please sign up before junior sessions begin.  These sessions consist of 5 instructional lessons and 5 play days on the course.  Times are set by age groups or ability groups.
First session begins in early June.
Second session begins the end of June.  Call 283-7500 for more info
8-9 year olds at 1 pm
10, 11 & 12 year olds at 2 pm
13 and older at 3 pm
Advanced students at 12 noon
Cost is $50 for the session which includes instruction, range balls, club rental and green fees for the days of play.
 
Junior Tournament June 22, 2004, 1-3 pm tee time  All juniors 8 to 17 are welcome to play in the tournament.  Sign up in clubhouse.  17 year olds & younger play 18 holes white tees.  14 year olds & younger play 9 holes gold tees.  10-11-12 year olds play 9 holes from modified red tees.  8-9 year olds play 5 holes from modified red tees.
Tee times will be flexible with the older golfers going earliest and the youngest golfers starting last.

August 5, 2004 there will be an Alaska Junior Golf Association tournament at the Kenai Golf Course.

Junior KGA Tournament  Aug 13, 2004.  1-3 pm tee time.  All juniors 8 to 17 years of age are welcome to play in the tournament.  Tee shirts to first juniors signing up or until tee shirts are gone.  Sign up in clubhouse.  $9 for 8 to 15 year olds.  $15 for 17 and under.
Wouldn't it be wonderful to find someone to organize this event for the Kenai Peninsula junior golfers.
